Derrumbes Durango
Derrumbes Durango is crafted in the remote village of Nombre de Dios, located in the northern Mexican state of Durango. Made exclusively from maguey Cenizo (Agave durangensis), a native agave that thrives in the region’s volcanic soils, this mezcal showcases the distinct character of Durango’s terroir. The agaves take 10 to 15 years to mature and are distilled using a unique hybrid of wood and copper stills featuring an external condensation neck—an uncommon technique that contributes to its singular profile.
Under the skilled hand of Maestro Mezcalero David Burciaga, this expression offers a vibrant balance of summer fruit, floral notes, and dry minerality, finishing with a soft, elegant smokiness. The tasting profile includes black cherry, honeysuckle, white pepper, asparagus, and a rich floral character.
Derrumbes is a project founded by Esteban Morales with the goal of highlighting the rich diversity of agaves across Mexico, while also demonstrating how regional terroir and varying production methods influence the unique flavors of each mezcal. The collection serves as an exceptional introduction to the subtle nuances and complexities that define each expression, offering a deeper understanding of the many factors that shape mezcal’s character.
