Tapatio Reposado

$48.00$51.00

Tapatío Reposado is a highly regarded, additive-free tequila from the family-owned La Alteña Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. Made from slow-roasted estate-grown blue agave and double-distilled in copper pot stills, it is aged for 4–6 months in used American white oak bourbon barrels. This process creates a pale straw-yellow spirit with dominant flavors of cooked agave, balanced by notes of caramel, vanilla, and pepper. Known for its traditional methods and high quality, it is excellent for sipping neat or mixing into cocktails like a margarita.

Production process
  • Estate-grown agave: Tapatío is crafted exclusively from mature blue agave grown in the nutrient-rich red clay soil of the Jalisco highlands.
  • Traditional cooking: The agave piñas are slow-roasted for four days in traditional brick ovens, a process that caramelizes the sugars and brings out earthy and herbal notes.
  • Crushing and fermentation: After cooking, the agave is crushed using a combination of a roller mill and a traditional stone wheel, or tahona, to extract the juice. The juice is then fermented in open-air wooden tanks using an 80-year-old proprietary yeast culture.
  • Double distillation: The fermented juice is double-distilled in copper pot stills, a technique that results in a cleaner, fuller-bodied spirit.
  • Aging: The reposado is aged for four to six months in used American white oak barrels that previously held bourbon.
  • Additive-free: Tapatío is certified additive-free, ensuring a truly authentic flavor.
