Emblematic maguey for the Mixtec and Nguivas peoples of the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Biosphere Reserve Region, it lives in the low deciduous forest and the xerophilous scrubland, its easy adaptation to wild soils makes it one of the magueys with the greatest resistance to survive drought and extreme heat conditions, it reaches up to 3 meters in height, its leaves are rough with small, curved spines.
